Update on Hugo’s MCT – Grade 2
// April 6th, 2009 // Doggie Mayhem, Pets
Well, we got a call from the vet today and the news is not what we had hoped. The tumor was graded a low 2 which means that is likely that it has spread and that it will reoccur back quickly. We will be watching him for more tumors while his body heals from the surgery. If more MCT occurs, we’ll need to look into either prednisone or radiation for the cancer. We have a vet appointment for early next week to have his sutures removed, so we’ll talk with the vet more then.

Oh no Beth! Sorry to hear it’s grade 2. Our Golden had two MCTs pretty close together but we did not do any chemo or radiation because she was older (8 or 9 at the time) and had been abused and wasn’t in the best of health for her age.
I’d definitely look into long-term therapy if you find another one, especially he’s such a young boy!
My great dane is fighting a different cancer but thought this might help

We have been using Neoplasene to treat oral melanoma with great success
Stay strong and stay postive
Thanks, Lori and Becky. Your support is much appreciated. Hugo is going back to vet today as we think that another tumor is already forming. It may just be swelling from the surgery, but we’re not taking any chances. In the meantime, I’m looking into treatments and dietary changes to help fight off the cancer.
Ask about putting him on an anti histamine such as benedryl. Get him on a cancer diet and an immune support supplement such as CAS Options, and if you can add Chinese Herbs. My dane has been living with cancer since April ‘07. If I can help in any way please email me
